The five star rating is not for this book, but for the whole series which (to use a hoary cliché) is greater than the sum of its parts. The Terrorists provides a fitting conclusion for Martin Beck and his group of disillusioned detectives, with Sjöwall and Wahlöö's characteristic wry comic touch, political irony and solid storytelling.
