Oh Dear! What a terrible translation! Having read the following two novels in this series I am aware that the translator used the exclamation mark to excess! And the language was ridiculously dated, for example on one occasion a police officer excaims "phooey!". Really? Do people actually say "phooey!" outside of 50s cartoon strips? It was a bit of a trial but I persevered because the quality of the translation is hardly the authors fault. The story, however, was.
