"Life in Shackles" is a collection of short stories written in Indian context. The stories are focused on social, political and religious issues. By reading this book one can understand the pain of being a woman. These stories are based on Dowry, Acid attacks, illiteracy, bravery and innocence.

I think every Indian must go through these stories, issues and feel the plight of women. As an author, I have given the voice and blown the trumpet for them and I am sure the society will seriously think

Life in Shackles by Prakash Vir Sharma is a collection of short stories based on the lives of different women belonging to India. The book depicts the plight of the women enduring the societal lashes in India for the past several centuries. Be it illiteracy, female foeticide, dowry deaths, or triple divorce, the book raises some burning issues related to the security, stability, and growth of the women of the subcontinent.
