I have very mixed feelings about this book. I would actually have given it a 3.5 if that was an option.
Chance spends more than half the book setting things up, which I found more problematic than intriguing. It also contains a very complicated mixture of mythologies, and that backstory of this world had my head reeling. I never did get it all straight.
