I adored this book! I really did.
The plot was exceptional. The idea of a food taster is just so unique, it’s something I’ve never seen before and yet the author did it so well. This story is so captivating; I seriously couldn’t put it down! However there are some parts of this book that I felt were dark and the issues lo Amazing! Maria V. I adored this book! I really did.
The plot was exceptional. The idea of a food taster is just so unique, it’s something I’ve never seen before and yet the author did it so well. This story is so captivating; I seriously couldn’t put it down! However there are some parts of this book that I felt were dark and the issues looked at in it were strong. Things like torture and rape.
The characters in this book are so complex and complicated. From Yelena, Valek, the Commander to Ari, and Janco as wells as Irys....I loved them all. They have so many different sides, especially Yelena and Valek. They’ve both been through such hard experiences and have taken lives, and yet they both have compassionate sides to them too.
Yelena has had a harder life than any deserves to have. Having spent years being tortured and experimented on and even rapped, it would be easy to understand if she’d let all that destroy her. And yet she didn’t; she was stronger than that. I loved watching her learn to defend herself and discovering people she can care about and that care about her in return. She’s moving on from the past and reshaping her future. I loved the brotherly/sisterly relationship she developed with Ari and Janco. Their affection towards her was so sweet, and I loved the banter between the 3 of them.
And let’s face it..... Valek’s hot! Yes, he’s an assassin and a trained killer. He’s dark and mysterious, but there’s something about him that’s just so alluring. He also has a kinder side, I liked his sculptures and it’s easy to see he’s head over heels in love with Yelena. And it’s hard not to see why Yelena fell for him.
I liked how he gradually let her in, and how they slowly began to care about one another. It’s incredible to see how much they’ve healed each other. Valek has reawakened parts of Yelena she thought were gone forever.

This was an incredible book! A must read!!

Okay.. give me a sec.. this story doesn't let up.. I need to catch my breath.
I read it in a day and half!! I loved the characters, and the writing and the weaving stories.

From the first page you feel like you are running for your life with Yelena, short of breath. She is constantly being hunted down and I have to admit I was a little tense reading this, my neck hurts!

So enthralled with the characters and the unique world of The Poison Study. Great book! Political intrigue, romance, even some humor. Or course, a couple of things irked me, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. First, the story and characters are so strong, it seems that the author could have not used any of the magical elements and still have a wonderful tale. craving for more Stephenie Meyer books but knowing that I'd exhausted all that has ever been published by her, I turned to Maria Snyder's series - and was pleasantly surprised that these books also captured my attention - (although, of course, nowhere near as captivating and life altering as the Twilight series), they were pretty good - ...more

it was an amazing book! unfortunately it is the best in the series and only goes down hill from here. personally the 3rd was the worst, but poison study is a MUST read!! :)
