This was a delighful read for all ages. I laughed and cried in all the right places. As you can tell from the title it is about a girl who discovers she can fly. Flying isn't that popular in her home town though and her flying soon causes problems for her. Piper is discovered by a top secret government agency that "accept" children or any specimen that is out of the norm to help them refine their special abilities. This was entertaining and about midway through the plot twisted. I enjoy unexpected plot twists! I read a review that said it was a cross of Little House on the Prarie and Xmen. I would have to agree with this. I wouldn't necessarily read this to children. It was clean, but some of the scenes may be too difficult for small children and it would be hard to explain what was going on. The writer left it open for another book as well.

I am in love with this book. I may officially have to start of list of books my children (god willing I am ever so lucky) will have to read. This will be high up on the list. There are so many lessons and fine moments in this I just couldn't stop listening. Piper is one of kind and she makes this entire story sing. I read this book to my 4th graders. They insisted that I give it 5 stars. Here is why, straight from their lips..."A heart touching story." "It was thrilling with lots of drama."
