Rather an amazing situation. I can't figure out why this population has not risen up in rebellion. Very good characterization by the author and a beliveable world--my two criteria for an enjoyable read.
I'm not sure why this book is called The Hunger Games. Is it because the people of Panem are deliberately kept hungry so they will risk their children's lives by putting their names in the draw for the games in order to get more food for the family?

March 2020 Social Distancing Quarantine, Book 2
This was the second book that I read to my kids during our quarantine stay-at-home social distancing. It was so fun to share this story with them and to discuss how, even though we were currently experiencing a pretty crazy time in history with the Coronavirus, wouldn’t it be awful to live in a world where our country would condone something as awful as The Hunger Games? This is a book that I would have never picked out my self but when the my book club that I belong to picked it I was willing to give it a try.
I loved it from start to finish, I think it might be a little too much for younger kids to read but 7th and up I think would enjoy this book.
It made me think about the reality shows that we have on TV how long are we from having the real life hunger games on TV? When will killing be are entertainment? We already laugh and place bet on people that are on th ...more

I loved this book. I rarely give 5 stars but to me this deserves it. It kept my attention through the whole thing. I loved the action and the characters are pretty well developed. Can't wait for #3 to come out!
