Some books I feel I have to give 5★, even if the book has some considerable flaws. For me, Auē was one such book.
A Town Like Alice is another
The story begins gently with an aging London solicitor, Noel Strachan, recounting how he came to meet elderly and wealthy Scotsman, James McFadden, and helped him draw up his will. Most of my GR friends really enjoyed this, so please give it a go if you're thinking about it. It didn't ring any bells for me but everyone is different.
The storyline is intriguing and I was fully expecting a "love till I die" book but the writing itself ruined it for me. It was just boring. And I actually like slow books, but this was bone dry. Just a lovely book. I can't describe it better than that. The first half is just a page turner. The 2nd half is a much slower pace. But, its just a lovely book that tells a wonderful story of people working hard and enjoying life.
