Some books I feel I have to give 5★, even if the book has some considerable flaws. For me, Auē was one such book.

Most of my GR friends really enjoyed this, so please give it a go if you're thinking about it. It didn't ring any bells for me but everyone is different.
The storyline is intriguing and I was fully expecting a "love till I die" book but the writing itself ruined it for me. It was just boring. And I actually like slow books, but this was bone dry. During my reading I have met many heroes who I fell in love with. There are those who fight for their love with every obstacle to win her. There are those who are funny and friendly. But, a special place in my heart I have for very rare heroes. These men love through and through. Their love isn't demanding, it is pure. They want what is the best for their sweethearts. A good listen, and an interesting story. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the racism in this (as in everything) is off-putting, period-appropriate or no. There were a few moments (at least two that I remember vividly), where it made me want to stop reading. The story carried me along, but I think needs noting, as it did affect my enjoyment of this story.

Just a lovely book. I can't describe it better than that. The first half is just a page turner. The 2nd half is a much slower pace. But, its just a lovely book that tells a wonderful story of people working hard and enjoying life. ...more
