What Members Thought

My copy of Mrs. Mike was my mother's, given to her by her mother around the time of her wedding . . .she passed it along to me when I was PG with #1 as one of her favorite books. I have read it many times, and enjoy it probably more for the physical book that it is, as the story it contains. Yes, it was a moving love story between humans and the Canadian wilderness. There was also, of course, a love story between Mike and Kathy, but to me, it was firstly a homage to the wilderness that a human wasn't much able to conquer, at least for some time (in some places it is still valid - fortunately for us all). 3.5 reminds me a lot of Christy (Catherine Marshall). A book I loved in my childhood

Enjoyable read. Another story that proves to me that I am not cut out for pioneer living. 🤔 More than the weather, it's the isolation that would be difficult to tolerate. Not to mention, the sorrow of losing your children to an epidemic.
