Richelle Mead does it again. How is it possible to make such an amazing series? This review is really long, mostly because I have LOTS to say about the book. Another reason would be that I completely love this book. Its filled with so many plot twists and lots of new characters that you just have to like. Rose is still on her quest to kill Dimitri--or join him. Its action packed filled with lots of kicked Stirgoi asses, courtesy of Rose of course. Lissa tries to cope without Rose, who missed her Richelle Mead does it again. How is it possible to make such an amazing series? (view spoiler)[ Rose, as always, is the kickass dhampir we know and love. Meeting Dimitri's family was a huge thing for me. I loved hearing stories about young Dimitri (especially the marriage one)I also liked Rose's flashbacks with Dimitri. Oh god, how I missed Dimka. Her kinda turning into a blood whore, was killing me. The way she talked to Adrian, the blood loss, the Stirgoi Dimitri--I think it was too much for Rose to handle. Luckily she got her priorities straight.

Sydney coming in the story was a huge shock for me. I knew Bloodlines was about her, but I didn't know the character was already introduced in the Vampire Academy series. Her character is kind of a complex one, but that's what I like about her. Not all people are easy to read. The tattoo was a stroke of genius on Mead's part. Well, the alchemist idea was a stroke of genius. Heard from someone that Adrian and Sydney get together. We'll see how that plays out.

The Belikovs are like my favorite family in a book series. They were so quick to accept Rose. Although, Viktoria was about to become a blood whore & Sonya kinda already one. Olena treated her like a daughter and I loved that. Well I would have loved it more if Olena was Rose's mother-in-law, but there's...that.

That as in Dimitri being Stirgoi. Honestly, I was scared out of my mind when I was reading the book. I kept playing best & worst case scenarios in my head. Oh when he finally showed up, I almost shit my pants. He was still Dimitri in some ways, which made it even worst. I knew his love for Rose would never go away so that was good. Since I finished Blood Promise only a few minutes ago, I can't think about Dimitri without freaking out. It's not like I actually bought that Rose killed Dimitri. Honey, it's gonna take a lot more to kill that sexy Russian god. I have complete faith in Rose and Lissa's ability to make Dimitri come back to life. He has to. Rose deserves her happy ending!

I'm only gonna talk about Abe a little. First off, I knew it! Haha, I guessed that he was her daddy. I mean not right away but I picked up on the little hints: Abe-Ibrahim, Muslim, Necklace, His attention on Rose. He was a pretty good dad though, in his own, blackmail mind games kind of way.

Now, Lissa. Oh Lissa. When she yelled at Rose in Shadow Kiss I wanted to strangle her. Here: when she got mad at Rose, I wanted to strangle her again. Her apologizing made me like her more, but just a little. Lissa being compelled was the last thing I would have guessed. Like holy Morois. I did feel bad for her when Christian broke up with her. They were so compatible--I totally ship them together.

Christian in this book isn't much of a main character as he is an inconvenience. In the beginning, he's just there. Then, he refuses to go to the Royal Court. AFTER THAT, he gets all mad when Lissa doesn't tell him she kissed Aaron when she was drunk. (Okay, that was a mistake on Lissa's part,well Avery really-I'll talk about her in a second. The thing that annoyed me was that after he found out Lissa's behavior was because of Avery, he didn't go and find Lissa. Well to be fair, neither did Lissa, but she was giving him the space he'd asked for. Besides, Lissa and Christian were obviously going to make up and live a happy life together.

I guess it's Avery turn. Jesus how I hate her. First off, how dare you try and take Adrian. It's not like I ship him with Rose, but that doesn't mean I don't love him. Her powers were truly a humongous shock to me. I wouldn't have figured out that Simon was shadow kissed until Rose said so. I might have figured out that Reed was after lots of thought, but it was easier when Rose told Lissa. The worst part about her, is I was starting to think she was for real and that she and Rose could be friends if Rose came back. Of course that was before i found out about Avery's crazy plan to shadow kiss Lissa. Would Lissa still have her powers if she was shadow kissed? Hopefully Mead will elaborate on that.

Finally, my homie, Adrian. Him being there for both Rose and Lissa just intensified my love for him. When Rose & Lissa plan on leaving, I'm hoping that she brings Adrian with her. Rose owes him that much- to be with him (even for a little while). His role in the story was more than Abe or the Belikovs' role, but not THAT big. He was there throughout the story, but just there. Some of the important things he did would be: Being in Rose's dreams, helping & watching out for Lissa (and Jill). His love interest in Rose does play a very small role in the story, note small. To sum up all this ranting, this book is totally amazing. I'm liking how the series is playing out. Even if you don't particularly like vampires (like me) this book will change that. ...more
