I didn't like the story or the characters, but I loved the writing. I understand why the main character is SO ANNOYING (weird stunted lonely childhood, life lived too much in books, strange distant/suffocating parents, etc) but I still found her exasperating and dense and silly. What I loved was the use of analogies - the descriptive writing was very fun to read and there was a lot of interesting use of language. Fun read for Bronte fans. Samantha Whipple is the last remaining descendant of Patrick Bronte & heir to the "vast Bronte estate" that no one can seem to find.
