*Trigger warning for Suicide and Self Harm with the book*
Now, with this book, I was really skeptical about starting it. The description is really vague and I know tons of people have really mixed feelings about this book. The first 70-ish pages, I just kept asking myself "WTF are you getting into here?" cause this wasn't at all what I was expecting. Trigger warning for self-harm. This was, for the most part, was just fine but the thing that bothered me and why I didn't like this book was that they used the stigma that one uses self-harm only to get attention from others. As a recovered self-harmer this didn't sit well with me. If they haven't used that and stigma I would have been fine with the book.

Thank you, Leila Sales, for making characters that come to good realizations in a realistic way.
This novel is quite placid and, surprisingly, not very emotionally turbulent, but it both started, continued, and ended very strong and pretty empowering. The characters all had some pretty bad flaws, but nothing crazy or overly irritating.
My one complaint would be that This Song Will Save Your Life was too short- I really would have loved more details into Elise's life, more of her pare ...more
