A solid 4 stars here! I'm not going to lie to you (I have no reason to) this book was really hard for me to read. It involves bullying and a suicide attempt. This makes me so sad! It makes me terrified to send my future kids out into the cruel cruel world! They are so much safer in heaven! :D I confess that I didn't have a hard high school experience. This Song Will Save Your Life is such a wonderful and awe-inspiring book. Very raw. This book probably left me a bunch of lessons and uplifted my self esteem and define who you are as a person. Definitely made it to my top favorite contemporary books. I entirely fell in love with this book. Those every happy tears I've dropped are worth the shame.

Elise is an incredible person regardless of all her flaws. She's smart, has a good sense of humor, and a very talented girl -a nature born artist. Elise is an incredible person regardless of all her flaws. She's smart, has a good sense of humor, and a very talented girl -a nature born artist. Even if people that surrounds her doesn't see it and make her don't fit in. Yes, sometimes she liked the idea of simply not having to be there anymore, not having to deal with her life. As if death could be just an extended vacation and commit suicide. She may be into a lot of struggles but she never gave up in the end and followed her heart on what she truly desired and loved, which is being a DJ. The one thing that no one else knows about, so no one can ruin it for her and take it away from her. It's obviously like music was her greatest escape from her brutal world. And whenever she was in the DJ booth, I swear I can really also felt the energy pounding crowd when she played her music. That simple feeling when you feel like connected to her somehow. Djing in a way, had saved her life.

Maybe it was fate that drove her into that club Start and happens to stumbled with Pippa and Vicks. Like they were her bridge crossing into discovering her great escape. I loved it how the other characters are well-drawn. For instance, Mel. I never thought he's one of those that made Elise realize how lucky she is that there are like him who believed in her. Char, I think just serves as an instrument to her stardom. Char taught her how to DJ and also taught her how to love and to feel heartbroken and by that she learned that he's not worth the reason of giving up but the reason of soaring high, not letting him to get in the way of her talent.

This Song Will Save Your Life is beautifully well written. Leila Sales did a good job about the storyline that provokes thoughts about teenagers, bullying, fitting in, true friendship, family, and most importantly, discovering yourself. This book gave a nice indulging impact. An overflowing of appreciation.

You think it's so easy to change yourself. You think it's so easy, but it's not. True, things don't stay the same forever: couches are replaced, boys leave, you discover a song, your body becomes forever scarred. And with each of those moments you change and change again, your true self spinning, shifting positions but always at last it returns to you, like a dancer on the floor. This is such an important book. I loved this book. I loved how it dealt with mental issues,friendship,family and bullying. The development and growth of the characters was rather remarkable for so short a book. I would have loved to have gotten more of Elise being a DJ because that was awesome. Char is a tool and I was so frustrated by their relationship. I hate bullying absolutely despise it and it was a very important part of this book and I really like how it was handled. I read this with read with friends goodreads group. This story was about bullying, attempting suicide, trying to fit in, underage drinking, love, deception, honesty, trust, and forgiveness. A 16 year old girl Elise was struggling to fit in and was depressed. Throughout the book she finds her will to live. Very emotional book.
