This book is about a small town girl named Carter she favors simplicity over bright lights. To protect this movie star's image she is paid a hefty amount of money her family needs to pretend to be his girlfriend. They of course end up falling for the other. I really enjoyed this book, though in the beginning I must say the struggle was real. After a while I warmed up to it. My favorite aspect of the book was the friendship between Drake Carter and Chloe especially between Carter and Chloe. I really enjoyed this book, though in the beginning I must say the struggle was real. After a while I warmed up to it. My favorite aspect of the book was the friendship between Drake Carter and Chloe especially between Carter and Chloe. Now moment of truth did I like the main love interest Adam jakes the famous celebrity? I have to say he surprised me but did I love him? No did I kind of like him and warm up to him a little bit? Yea he was not that bad. Overall the whole beginning and middle of the book was average blah I even skimmed it was the ending that was the best. I also enjoyed the parts where Carter was working at her parents cafe. I also thought the dancing aspect was boring. The end is not really wrapped up between the couple as I would have liked. And the whole aspect with Carter's brother John being an addictive compulsive gambler felt a little forced. Something else that felt forced was the whole fight at the end no not the fake fight, the real fight that was kind of forced and happened for no reason because Adam's lies really had nothing to do with her at least in my opinion. Overall it was pretty good there were a few good redeeming parts. Like when they were at the lake, what else um the little tour they took( no pun intended for the town's name you'd know what I mean if you read the book), I loved when he wrote the song for her that was cute too, I also liked when Mik pinned T.J to the ground that was priceless!. Something else I like was the stargazing although the blog was boring. Overall I really liked this book but to be honest it was a little disappointing . Should you waste your time with this one ? Maybe if you just don't expect anything amazing and are just looking for a sweet contemporary with some substance because they did have some like lessons and some darker elements woven into the story. I just need to say one thing first... awwwwwwwwwwwww CUTE

I chose to read this book because I was in the mood for a contemporary and I wanted to read something that I hadn't heard much about. I found this book in the new release section on audible and figured, why not, I'll give this a try! I must say I was very pleasantly surprised!

I will start off by saying that this book isn't overly original and can be at times a bit cheesy, but it made me smile and really happy. After my last contemporary be I just need to say one thing first... awwwwwwwwwwwww CUTE

I will start off by saying that this book isn't overly original and can be at times a bit cheesy, but it made me smile and really happy. After my last contemporary being such a downer I really needed a book like this. It was really adorable and the characters were familiar and relatable and the main character Carter was wonderful. I love when I can connect with the voice behind the words on the pages and I loved that about this book. The main love interest/star of this book was Adam and he grew so much throughout the book. He starts off as this arrogant movie star who only cares about himself and his phone and then he gradually progresses into someone you can really relate to and really enjoy. I felt like the romance wasn't forced, at times it was a bit awkward and you couldn't really tell if it was real, but it was still sweet and I liked that it wasn't insta love!! These two genuinely got to know each other and had real conversations before any kind of feelings developed. It was nice.

The other characters in this book were great as well and all added a little something different to the story. The only thing that bothered me was that one of the characters was referred to as Alien Drake, rather than just Drake and a times it just got kind of annoying that they wouldn't just call him by his regular name! The family aspects of this book were a good touch as well and gave Carter reasoning behind accepting the job to be Adam's fak small town girlfriend. I liked that she had a real reason rather than just that she wasted to be in the spotlight.

This book would make such an adorable movie as well. If you are in the mood for a happy and cute story, an easy read and a summertime setting, I would recommend this book to you! Especially the audiobook, I just thought it was wonderful! Exactly what I needed :)( ...more
