"Isn’t that what stories do, make real things fake, and fake things real?"
3.5 stars
I'm still not very sure if this is the correct rating. There were things I liked and things that I was "MEH" about.
Lady Kestrel is the daughter of General Trojan, a very important man in Valoria. One day, out with her friend Jess, she ends up at an auction, buying a Herrani slave for fifty keystone. A woman laughs at her and warns her about the winner's curse.

I LOVED this story.
The Winner's Curse was beautifully written and addicting. While it was slow during the first 1/3 of the book, I couldn't stop turning the pages.
This book was, in my opinion, heavy on the world-building, which was awesome. It features a world of ran by politics and a revolution which kept me intrigued. I loved having multiple POVs because it allowed us to see the revolution side of things, not just Kestrel's experiences. The POVs also brought on a little bit of action which k ...more

That was a crazy awesome ride of a book! Kestrel is such an interesting character, her emotions and decisions are the not the typical ya female character decisions. No insta-love, no ba fighting on her part rather we are given a main character who is smart and cunning, who falls in love but still makes choices that are realistic. Kestrel was a very well fleshed out character and her and Arin were amazing! I loved the shifting dynamics in their relationship and I can't wait to read the next book
