So, this is a book I've been meaning to read for ages. And... for obvious reasons... it seemed like now is the time.
I'm a white woman. I'll never understand what it is to be a black man. But Ta-Nehisi Coates writes in a way that really gets me as close as I'll ever be to understanding. This book is a letter to his son and an autobiography. It's incredibly smart and incredibly emotional.
Have a pen handy to take notes -- if you're like me, you're going to have a lot of names to write down for further reading.
