Amazing story, beautiful writing not your typical WWII novel. I have never read a book by Luis Alberto Urrea. I was pleasantly surprised by his writing. He wrote this book about his own mother’s Red Cross experience in WWII.

A 'new' viewpoint on WWII (historical fiction) that I did not know about! The author did a wonderful job in conveying this story and I loved the 2 main ladies. Ending (view spoiler). I read this one on audio.
