Amazing story, beautiful writing not your typical WWII novel. I have never read a book by Luis Alberto Urrea. I was pleasantly surprised by his writing. He wrote this book about his own mother’s Red Cross experience in WWII.
In October 1943, Irene Woodward leaves behind a broken engagement and enlists in the Red Cross.
