It’s been a busy year to say the least. I’m just glad that I had the opportunity to read this last installment of the Owens family saga when it came out. Did I enjoy it as much as the other books in the saga, not really, only because the loose ends were tied up too neatly. I wanted the door left open for future books featuring this magical family, but, as they say, all good things must come to an end. One day when I am not bogged down by teaching preschool full time I will give this book and it’ ...more

The dreaded curse of the Owen Family. How to break it? No one can fall in love
without disaster happening.
This is the historical fiction novel, written beautifully of the Owen Family. It is #4 in the series. I would suggest reading the other books in the series to know about all the characters in this story.
It takes us back to 1600’s to the witch trials in Salem. A witching tale of mystical herbs and potents, teas and magical cakes.
The story of three generations of witches, some of which never k

" Edward proceeded to prattle on about a private library not far from where she was staying, near Lancaster Gate, across from Hyde Park"
"They've got everything you could be looking for. Names, faces, places. Only thing is, you've got to be a member to get in. And don't mention me to anyone there. I've made a few deliveries to them. They tend to get pissy about privacy."

The outstanding ending to this 4 book series,Is one you will not want to miss. I did receive an ARC of this from NG very early.

3.5***

This is the fourth book Hoffman has written about the Owens family witches, and also the fourth as far as chronology of the family story is concerned. However, it’s listed as “Series # 2, because the second and third books she wrote were prequels to the first, Practical Magic .

I came late to the Hoffman fan club. I’m not terribly interested in reading about witches and magic, and I had seen the movie of Practical Magic, which I thought was terrible.

I thoroughly enjoyed the writing, so smooth and the story flowed so wonderfully. I loved that the characters throughout the series made appearances and we got to see them again, such interesting people with a very interesting history. I love where this story went and how it all ended, perfect. Alice Hoffman is a wonderfully storyteller, her writing is just so easy to read, it flows. I will continue to read more of her books.

Thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for a

Once again, I find myself immersed in the magical world of the Owens' family. I absolutely loved the magical elements and the love shared between the family. In this last book, the Owens embark on learning more about their family and how to break the curse that has brought so much heartache across the generations. We meet Sally's adult children and an older Jet, Frannie, and Vincent, Gillian is there, too. Together, the family embarks across the pond to face and hopefully break their curse and t ...more
