What Members Thought
I AM impressed by this book.
1) The cover drew me in
2) The story's locale - Highlands NJ - is one I am familiar with; I lived in Matawan NJ for a year and fell in love with the area.
3) The plot and 'goings-on' occurred during the 1920's - Prohibition Era. Learned a lot about 'rum-running' in the area
4) The characters were strong and well-described; I especially fell in love with the heroine - Frieda Hope - a VERY STRONG female.
Della Hope was the town prosititute. She had two girls: Frieda and Bea ...more

This was a coming of age romance with a sprinkling of the prohibition era and life among the rum-runners. I enjoyed the segments on what I learned about the rum-runners and will look for non-fiction works on the subject. 3 stars.
