I feel like I accomplished an amazing feat! This was a surprisingly good read. I especially enjoyed the story centered around the characters and their lives. The war scenes were well done just not as interesting.

I just don't feel I can write a "review" of this book nor add to many of the excellent reviews on GR by many more scholarly and better read than myself! At this stage as I am still absorbing it, and I believe it is a work that requires me to undertake more study on Tolstoy's life, his other works, plus the acquisition of a reasonable Russian historical and literary knowledge, not to mention philosophical knowledge which I am only just starting to acquire.
