This book included 2 things I adore-Pirates and cooking!

Chef Owen Wedgwood is abducted by a saucy pirate Captain "Mad" Hannah Mabbot . Mabbot is not mad at all, just misunderstood. Her shenanigans on the the high seas are a direct result of her hating how the merchant ships are smuggling slaves and opium, and she means to put a stop to it. Lots of amusing tidbits from narrator's name (Wedgewood) to a knitting first mate. Interspersed with descriptions of battles and escape attempts are descriptions of cooking for Mabbot- Wedgewood must cook a delectable meal each week for Mabbot to buy another week of life. Yes, there are paral ...more
