This was Austen’s last novel, and one would think it would be the ultimate work of a mature author who had honed her craft. But it isn’t. It’s not Austen’s fault. She grew quite ill and was not able to finish it.

Simply glorious! Just love how Anne takes herself in hand and goes after her own happiness! I have always loved Anne, surrounded by ninnies, narcissists, and having no one with whom to converse. Book is filled with gems, like the Admiral's 'refreshing turn about the room' and the Crofts puzzlement over the excess of mirrors in the master's dressing room. So glad I read it again.
