I have read all of the web of heart and souls that have come out and after every book I wonder if Jamie's imagination will run dry and I will get bored with the books but I never do. She really is a professional daydreamer to come up with such fascinating stories. This book answers questions about the Web of Heart and Souls that you didn't even know you had. Continuing my reread of the series with the masterpiece that is Imperial. If some of the content in the previous books seemed confusing to you, I'm pretty sure this one will enlighten you completely.
If I had a word to describe this book, I'd say its "meta" compared to the others. We're following Glory and Vade, the "good" sovereigns because they are the only sovereigns really trying to do the job they were given in the first place.
