This is two books smushed into one and hence much longer than the other school boy books by PG Wodehouse. The first book is better than most of its predecessors in the school genre with a protagonist you actually care about. There is also far too much cricket. The second book introduces the first of truly memorable Wodehouse heroes in the shape of Psmith with the silent P. The writing also has just a touch of the Wodehouse sparkle that will make his later works so enjoyable. There is less cricke ...more

I had already read Mike and Psmith (Mike book #2) and had thought at the time that is was fairly interesting and maybe Mike at Wrykyn (Mike book #1) would have been boring.

But I was wrong. When I started reading this, I realized what I'd missed. And then the 2nd part became even more interesting for me.
