Nothing new plot-wise, incorporating, as it does, domineering wives, young people in love, professional criminals, American politicians, and various persons pretending to be what they are not in pursuit of something (in this case, some priceless jewels and a compromising letter). But it represents the author at the top of his form. Often in PG Wodehouse novels the plots are a bit of an afterthought, but the humor is superb and flows freely, the descriptions are excellent, the one liners, similes and the like are witty and they are just fun to read. This book is something of the opposite as the plot seemed to me a very solid, well constructed farce, but the actually laughter was much diminished. It has been suggested that this might be the best choice of all the Wodehouse books to turn into a movie and indeed he did turn it

Hot Water is a book by P G WODEHOUSE without the usual characters like Jeeves, Ukridge, Wooster or Lord Emsworth. As all characters are different hence all are unpredictable and the reader is surprised as the events unfold. False identities, letters falling into wrong hands, long lost loves - all make up for an interesting read.
