Another gem from P G Wodehouse. This was written in 1970 when he was 89 years old. Jerry West meets a girl Jane Hunnicut while on a jury duty and falls in love but he is already engaged to a gold digger Vera Upshaw. His rich uncle Willoughby Scrope is taking care of his inheritance which is in a trust while another uncle Crispin Scrope is struggling to maintain a sprawling property - Mellingham Hall. A pleasant novel with nice bubbling chuckles and a faint suspicion that even 50 years ago these books were starting to feel dated. There are points where the author doesn't quite sure how much of the modern world should creep into his blissful English paradise that had been largely untouched by the woes and technologies that plagued the outside world. The upside is that he has a strong older female character involved in the proceedings which should please those who find the Wodehouse leading lad
