As I contemplated what to do on this Christmas Eve day, reading Summer Lightning seemed as good a plan as any. My chronological reading of the complete works of PG Wodehouse had now reaching this lovely novel and I was aware that the next book in line contained the one real Christmas story in the Wodehouse catalog as Jeeves confronts the Yule-Tide Spirit. It’s your usual Blandings Castle book filled with characters who are in love and the aunts who oppose them, imposters and Empress of Blandings. There is also lot of comedy btw and I laughed out lot more than couple of times. Storm broods over Blandings Castle as always but in the end all get the happy ending.

Summer Lightning by P G Wodehouse is a marvelous book. The story is set at Blandings castle where Earl of Emsworth is the proud owner of his pig called Empress of Blandings. His younger brother Galahad Threepwood is keen to write his memoir - a tell-all tale that can prove ruinous for the polite society, hence many people are after the manuscript of the memoir.
