A Damsel in Distress along with Something Fresh are PG Wodehouse's two pre-1920 novels that still hold up well a hundred years later. They are timeless and funny, with no long descriptions of cricket or rugby to mar them, no stories of school days yellow with age and no attempts at submerging the lovely Wodehouse humor to try and write a 'romance' novel. This is early Wodehouse finding the style that would lead him to fame and fortune.
