This is another great entry in the Jeeves and Wooster saga! In this episode, Bertie is thrown into the den of aunts (infinitely worse than a den of lions or thieves as far as Bertie is concerned)! Wooster's own personal Aunt Agatha orders him off to perform in a village concert at her friend, Dame Daphne Winkworth's abode at Deverill Hall. This tangled web is a step down from the first four Jeeves and Wooster novels in no small part because there isn't nearly enough Jeeves in the book. He makes cameo appearances throughout, but in many ways, this is really a Drones novel with Gussie Fink-Nottle and Catsmeat Pirbright playing significant roles. Another somewhat later Jeeves novel that is not quite up to Wodehouse's pre-WWII efforts. It is fun, though, to see him running down, in a rather benevolent manner, the works of A.A. Milne, who made some unkindly and misinformed comments about Wodehouse's WWII German broadcasts.
