The first Jeeves novel to be published after WWII is a good one, but lacks the freshness and inspiration of some of Wodehouse's earlier work. But a good Jeeves tale is never less than entertaining, and I certainly found this to be pleasant and amusing.

The first four Jeeves and Wooster novels are among the finest comic reads in the English language. Only the Blandings quartet that begins and ends with Uncle Fred's visits to the old pile come close to matching this four book run. Which of the four is the best novel depends on taste, though I would suggest The Code of the Woosters if I was pressed.

Plum never fails to make you laugh. If you are reading this book in public then people may wonder why you are snorting.
