I thought this was a beautiful and touching story, and loved the way the author described the loss of sight, and the adjustment afterwards. There were a few times when the author seemed to buy in to the myths of the capabilities of a blind person - in particular the super amazing hearing we're supposed to have, which he claims means blind people can hear things a couple of miles away - but for the most part he showed a great understanding of how things really are for a blind person, and it was n

Mielenkiintoinen lähestymistapa kirjoittaa tarinaa, jossa päähenkilöt kohtaavat radion välityksellä. Olin utelias kirjaa kohtaan, takakansitekstin perusteella. Kuitenkin jokin jäi uupumaan, eikä päästy odotusten tasolle. Kirja oli melko pitkäveteistä ja pikkutarkkaa kirjoittamista, jaariteltiin pitkiä aikoja ja sitten lopussa kauhean hätäinen päätös kirjalle, se tuntui liian helpolta ratkaisulta. Set against the backdrop of Hitler's European WWII theater this book is about the life story of a young blind girl and hr closely knit family. Very vivid and descriptive this book draws you in with the story and is a page turner especially if you prefer a strong historical context with your reading.
