This series was so easy to read, I legitimately read both in one seating. I’m giving this a 5 star because really, why the hell not? It had given me absolutely no reason to lower it down. But! That does not mean that there is no missing quality to it.

You see, Bridge Kingdom was *chef’s kiss 10x* exquisite! Perfectly executed, the characters, the angst, the politics, the mind games, the calculation of every little thing from bottom to the top. It had given me absolutely no reason to lower it down. But! That does not mean that there is no missing quality to it.

You see, Bridge Kingdom was *chef’s kiss 10x* exquisite! Perfectly executed, the characters, the angst, the politics, the mind games, the calculation of every little thing from bottom to the top. While Traitor Queen had delivered, beautifully I might add, on tying loose ends, answered questions, mending of broken hearts, working on trust, and so on and so forth, I could not help but notice that it had lacked something. Whether it be about the sisters (whom I LOVE!! I really need more content about them 😭) or Jor and Ahnna’s distrust, or Taryn! Better yet, more of Aren’s prison time. It just feels like there could have been more, you know?? To really hit it home (lol im a sadist. This book was a rollercoaster ride. TRUST ME when I say my heart ached when their did, and my heart jumped when theirs did. Fml. I really freaking love Lara and Aren ok 😭)

It only worsened when I learned that the next books were predominantly going to be about Keris and Zarrah (and the others being supporting/second characters). All this time I was comforted by the thought of having more of them, hence my acceptance of how this book could have acted as a very good filler (but a filler nonetheless). However, that was not the case. And so I’m sad, because I wish there was just more of Lara and Aren, more of the characters, more of the internal dilemma of trying to move on from that betrayal, because I love how it ended, I just wanted more at the middle, you know? 😭

I did not expect to love this series this much! That’s literally the only thing I can think of that I was not happy about. That being it had ended so soon 😭 This was such an amazing read that I am so grateful to finally have picked up from my TBR pile. You will not regret it!! ...more

So first of all, let's say why this book is Better than the first one!
#I liked the consistency of the writing style. The first book was great and all, but it had consistency problem in the writing style. The first half of the book felt like a regency era story, which became very 21st century-ish in the second half. This book provided me comfort because, the writing style of the whole book was flawless.

#Great narrative again. I love when a writer describes the ambiance of his/her story poetically. Like the sound of breeze. Sunshine. Things like that. And alike the first one, this book succeeded in that case. The story churned my heart and danced across my vision when I closed my eyes.

#Loved the change of the usual scenario. Honestly, if this book was also about Rain and Storm, I didn't know what I would do. Changes of scenario was necessary. Velcotta and the Desert-both were unique in their own way. I liked how other leaders other came into the play. 👍 Oh, and the behaviour of the desert people- I think they made perfect sense. So, thanks for bringing it up.

What I didn't like

#First of all, I missed spying. Not that I'm entirely displeased with this book because it has no 'spying', I just....well..missed the thrill.

#WHY THE FREAKING KING ISN'T ACTING LIKE HIMSELF!!!! HE LOOKED LIKE A HOPELESS ROMANTIC TEEN!! Even Lara seemed more determined than him. All the time, he was focused on Lara's body(wth). On book one, he was reasonable above everything else, like a good king. But how could he change his entire personality in this book is beyond me.

#The fight with Lara and father was too brief/too sudden. I hoped it would be more dramatic so that it could create an impact. But, there was enough fighting in this book so maybe the author thought to put an end to it.
And, lastly, I'm really eager to read Keris's atory and Ahnna's story and I'll be looking forward to read the next book. ...more

I think I preferred it to book 1. I just couldn’t put this down!!

Lara redeemed herself in my eyes in this book because damn that ending was action-packed and angsty.

So much heartache! 💔

The whole way through I just didn’t know how she could ever redeem herself and Aren’s struggle with his feelings for her and then her betrayal worked well.

❤️What I loved:
I loved Lara’s sisters, totally badass.

I loved to tension and angst between Lara and Aren.

The perfect follow up to the first book

Absolutely loved this whole story from start to finish. Aren and Lara's journey and romance is one of my ultimate favorites.

An incredible ending, but I love that more stories are emerging from this world I feel so invested in.

This book exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to read the next story in this series! ...more
