There were two fantasy book series that took me by absolute surprise this year, The Bridge Kingdom was one of the series.
I’ve never read Danielle L. Jensen’s books before and going into this, I went into it with an optimistic mind.
The first book from the series, The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom #1), surprised me so much and I was genuinely really looking forward to reading The Traitor Queen. I mean come on, I put an alarm on my calendar.

Oops, forgot to review this one :P
So it gets a 4.5 stars from me. I'm devastated this is the last book with Lara & Aren, but I was happy to see how their story wraps up. There were a couple points that seemed a little nonsensical, but I really, really loved the story overall <3 I just can't ever have enough of Aren & Lara *sniffles*
I don't have much to say about the plotline cause it'd be too spoilery for those who haven't read the first book. Suffice it to say that this focused on atonement, ...more

Loved. It had everything in it that I needed. I almost gave it a 4 star because Aren (the male main character) seemed inferior in strength and wisdom to the female main character and as much as I love a strong heroine, I love for the male to be stronger, faster, smarter. But because that’s a personal preference I still have it a 5 star because it’s just that damn good.

The Traitor Queen, the gripping sequel to The Bridge Kingdom, is an emotional rollercoaster that surpasses all expectations, continuing Lara and Aren’s story with even higher stakes and deeper emotions.
Picking up where the first book left off, The Traitor Queen dives headfirst into the aftermath of Lara’s devastating betrayal. As Lara struggles to regain Aren’s trust and help save Ithicana from the chaos she unintentionally unleashed, the narrative becomes even more intense and heart-wrenching. ...more

Not the sequel I was hoping for. Everything moved way to fast for my liking. Aren's forgiveness made no sense and seemed forced. I wanted Aren to forgive Lara and reunite with her, but the method on how it came about was not justifiable to the story. The plot seemed choppy towards the end, and definitely left unfinished. While I know that there's another book coming, Lara and Aren sorry felt rushed, unfinished, and choppy. Really wanted to love this series, and I'm so bummed that wasn't the case

TAKE ALL THE DANG STARS!!! This book was an incredible conclusion to Lara and Aren's journey. I could not stop listening!! I was worried because I usually can't get through an audiobook as fast as a print book but wow did I have no trouble with this audiobook!! This book made me laugh and cry and scream at my phone over and over!! I'll work on a full review for a bit later...right now I just need to cuddle under a blanket with some warm tea and contemplate this glorious work of book art!

I cannot tell you how excited I was for this book. I think I may have hyped it up in my head more that it should have been, but overall this was an incredible read. The writing was suspenseful and heart wrenching and satisfying. My heart did break for Lara throughout the book. I felt like some of the characters should have forgiven her sooner, especially after EVERYTHING she went through. Yes, I get it, she really f**ked up with the ending of Bridge Kingdom, and this book is supposed to be her r
