One of the best psychological thrillers I read recently. I was wowed hroughout the book, except for a few pages in the middle when I started thinking, 'Oh, now I will have to give it 4 stars'. But then things began to warm up. I just fell in love with the English countryside background [Ashbury], Rachel, the 30 something jobless, alcoholic lady who is trying to redeem herself and failing at each attempt, but never giving up hope; Anna, who is chronically stressed out and insecure about her husba

Definitely an easy read. But, even at 300 pages it seemed stretched. I will outrightly say this, that is probably better than Cuckoo Calling and those pseudo-detective types. It was toss up between a 3 or 4 star rating. The last 200+ pages were riveting & I couldn't stop turning pages. However the first 100 or so pages were confusing. I had to go back & reread pages to figure who was talking & the time frame in question. I recommend this book to all but be patient in the beginning.

I found myself angry at the characters a lot (I guess that goes along with the dislike), and I also find my opinions of the characters changing every few chapters. That said, it obviously was a book that captured my attent ...more

Definitely a page turner, but light reading and not really up to the hype. I also really didn't like the way this author categorically identifies male and female characters in pathetic, weak roles.
