I have to think that one of the most challenging genres is "Children's Horror" -- finding that balance between putting a child protagonist in genuine danger, but making it realistic that he or she can find their own way back to safety. "Coraline" finds that ideal balance; Coraline herself is clever but flawed, sometimes making mistakes, but remaining brave throughout.

Coraline is a wonderfully creepy story written for juvenile readers. Coraline finds an entrance to a world where everything is similar to her own, but something is not right. Can Coraline save her family and escape? I really liked the atmosphere the book creates. Gaiman does an excellent job with providing very creepy images for the reader.
