What Members Thought

I'm probably one of the only people that isn't completely over-the-moon in love with this book. Quite frankly, I just didn't get it. The writing style was not my forte. The characters were all very pretentious and did not sound like teenagers, they sounded like college professors with giant vocabularies. The main reason that I did not like this book was because I was very emotionally detached throughout the duration of the book. I didn't really feel for any of the characters. The only thing that

Short and Sweet? I believe that this is one of those books that everyone should read. I know that a lot of adults are completely against reading things that fall into the "young adult" category, but I think that everyone should make an exception when it comes to this book. John Green does a beautiful job of writing a realistic story you fall in love with, even though the synopsis alone leads you to believe you're being set up for heartbreak. The raw emotional draws you in, making you sympathize ...more

Meraviglioso....

Firstly, I did not cry! However I loved Hazel & Augustus! They were so witty & funny!
The ending was kinda odd though, I reread the last page twice. It was just so abrupt! I loved Hazel's parents, her dad is soo sweet. I think it really showed the parents heart for their children, the unconditional love.
It was a really heartbreaking story & it made me think more about life, and be truly thankful for what I've got! ...more

I read this book in about a day. I loved it. It liked the message it sent and how it was delivered. I actually really like Green's writing style which is very distinctive. This book also emotionally destroyed me, but I have a history with cancer that I think made this book hit close to home. The characters are well developed and I thought the pacing was perfect. I highly recommend checking is book out.

It took me a little while to get into the book but once I did I couldn't put it down. You must have tissues around as I did wind up crying while reading this book.
