I felt like friendship really was the main focus in this book compared to this first one. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire book after he left the school and it was just amazing! It breaks your heart but puts it back together quite fast and that's what really kept me going. ...more

September 2017 Audiobook: September 22-September 26

Definitely better this time around. I listened to the majority of this book yesterday at work because I had so much time to just listen to it and not have distractions. The ending did confuse me because of what I remember from the movie. I did think this book was less intense than the first partially because the ending was more tame and didn't have as much action at the end. I do always love the times they spend at camp and the chariot races were really fun to listen to. Also, Annabeth kissed Percy on the cheek. Kiss number 1 accomplished. Now we just need Luke out of the way but really I need to get to Mark of Athena and House of Hades because Percabeth. Also, I missed Grover in this book. Tyson was alright but Grover is a lot more fun. I honestly don't remember much of the next three books, only some details. But I'm happy because that should make the listening experience a lot more enjoyable!! I'm number 4 on the hold list waiting on 1 copy so hopefully won't be too long!!

Okay so I finally finished this! Don't know why I put it down but glad I picked it back up now! Now I did watch the movie at around the halfway point in the book so I was somewhat spoiled on the second half of the book. Now there were a lot of differences. I guess because of that I didn't give it a 5/5 because I watch the movie before finishing the book. Now I have been spoiled somehow about the romance in this series and the spin-off. That being said, Annabeth is growing on me. I didn't care for her in book one because of how she perceived Percy because of their parents' history. But she was better this time. Their friendship is growing. I missed Grover in a lot of this book, due to his predicament. Clarisse was....well she got better at the end. Maybe she can be an ally in future books. Still despise Luke. I despised him when I first met him in the first book. It doesn't help that I don't like the guy who plays him in the movie. Now as far as descriptions, I think Percy and Annabeth's portrayers in the movie were alright. Not great but not bad. Logan Lerman did have the Percy sass I love. Now I haven't seen the main fan art for Grover so movie Grover will have to do. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fan art for Percy and Annabeth though!!!!!! Some of the best I've seen of any book characters!! Excited for the next book! I know it'll be good but at the same time I'm ready to be rid of Luke and get to the next series where I hopefully won't see him and where the group will be older and somewhat more relatable. Also that way I won't have to avoid spoilers when I'm on EVERY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM!! ;)

I recently reviewed The Lightning Thief and talked about my overall disappointment with it. I thought it wasn't a strong start to this series, and it made me want to give up on it. There's so much love for this series though, so I decided to keep going and see if it gets better. So far, I am not sold on this series.

I hated how repetitive The Lightning Thief was. All Grover, Percy and Annabeth did was go from place to place, run into someone who seemed human but would turn out not to be. A fight ...more
