What Members Thought
This was my first graphic novel. I never thought it was a form I could appreciate but I was intrigued after Fun Home won the Tony award for Best Musical on Broadway. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it when I was in NYC in May but I knew then I had to read it and it was available in e-book from my public library. I figured it was low risk, I could just try a few pages and see how it went.

Beautifully drawn, brutally honest graphic memoir of Alison Bechdel's childhood. She grew up in a literary, smart family devoid of warmth and understanding. She and her siblings seemed to be parental afterthoughts and much time was spent vying for parental understanding and affection.

Story itself was probably 4 star but the way she made it so much more by writing it as a graphic novel earns it a 5 for me.
