The plot of this story revolves around statutory rape on a private school campus. Shreve uses suspense to drive the story, which kept me interested, but not engaged. I could not get close to any of the multiple narrators, some who only appear once. I get that the premise for the book was to show the far reaching consequences of a single stupid act, and in this she succeeds, but at cost to her characters. They come off as distant a ...more
