This was a book club selection. I don't normally read YA, but this was an enjoyable book and those in book club who read YA seemed to really like this. Out of the Easy is a glimpse into of the subculture of prostitution in 1950s New Orleans viewed through the eyes of seventeen-year-old Josie. Some of the characters seemed like caricatures (such as her mother) and some of the scenarios silly (the whole interlude with Mr. Lockwell, Josie's density regarding her friend Patrick) but overall an easy
