Hmmm. I really enjoyed the story - perhaps the narrator was the same as the Lost series and he was good. But the only thing wrong with this story was the apparent lack of inate maternal and paternal protectiveness that these parents of the unwinds had. I can really get into a futuristic story like this and would have loved this story had that one teeny tiny issue been resolved in a more satisfactory way. I really, really like the premise of this book. Although I know where I stand in the pro rights/pro life debate, this book really got me thinking about the topic. I think this would be especially powerful for teens who are still developing their opinions.

Set in a world where teenagers can be retroactively aborted ("unwound" - meaning 100% of their body is donated to others so that they "continue living, but in a divided state"), Connor, Risa & Lev are all scheduled to be unwound for various reasons. In the future, a civil war has been fought over human rights and parents are now able to retroactively abort their teenage children.

I liked the premise and the actual description of unwinding was fascinating. I guess, as I do with a lot of YA, I get thrown off kilter by some of the silly language. A town called Beaver's Breath? This book was pretty good, the writing was not the best but the story line was great! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
