Hmmm. I really enjoyed the story - perhaps the narrator was the same as the Lost series and he was good. But the only thing wrong with this story was the apparent lack of inate maternal and paternal protectiveness that these parents of the unwinds had. I can really get into a futuristic story like this and would have loved this story had that one teeny tiny issue been resolved in a more satisfactory way. I liked the premise and the actual description of unwinding was fascinating. I guess, as I do with a lot of YA, I get thrown off kilter by some of the silly language. A town called Beaver's Breath? A hero name Humphrey Dunfee? Happy Jack Harvest Camp? Takes me right out of the story. I also felt that the story lacked in world building. It felt jarring that the worl ...more
