This remarkable memoir was written by my remarkable professor at the University of Utah. I will always be grateful that he has been a part of my life and my growing career and I will cherish this book of his forever.

Having challenged himself to write an essay a week, Jeff Metcalf brings his colorful life into a fascinating, and at times unbelievable, read that leaves you wanting more. His overseas childhood escapades were where his humor really shines. The later entries become more personal and reflective as he grapples with prostrate cancer and finds solace in fly fishing. I really enjoyed this book. He was a great storyteller and he apparently has some great stories to tell. I laughed and cried and the chapter about the wedding made my heart pound! I couldn't read it fast enough to find out what happened. Can't wait to meet him tonight! ...more
