This is the type of book that requires you to trust that the author knows what they are doing. Nicole Krauss earns that trust within the first few brilliantly written pages, leading you through the history of Leo Gurskey's one great love in an unorthodoxed way and allowing you to see the effects, known and unknown, that this love has had on some unlikely people.
