Interesting history of behavioral analysis to solve crimes. Very interesting but hard to read over and over the intimate details of so many women who were brutally murdered. I appreciated the author's effort to humanize the victims. The author seeemed to reduce complicated psychological concepts to "inadequacies" of the criminals. Overall, good read but in small doses. Not for the squeamish.

This is an interesting breakdown of how serial killers and rapists are profiled by the FBI, and how criminal profiling intersects with law enforcement, media, psychiatry and parole proceedings. The tone was a little self congratulatory for my taste (my guess is his profiles were not always as perfect as he implies), but the unit he built and the work he's done really is remarkable.
