No doubt this is a fascinating story, and one that I am looking forward to discussing with others. What kept me from rating higher is that it didn't always hold my interest... maybe the way it was written... it don't know. I respect the author thoroughly for her persistence. I'm sure I would have given up trying to interview this family. I'm also amazed by the daughter, Deborah, who tried her best to educate herself in numerous ways. This is an incredible story about a woman whose cells have been the basis of many medical miracles, yet her family can't afford healthcare. The story is well told, exploring multiple perspectives of difficult ethical issues through a quick-moving narrative. I wished the book had a more conclusive ending - a clear victory or moral standing. But I will always think of this book - and Henrietta Lacks - when major medical discoveries are announced.
