This book is a gem. Small, unassuming, doesn't look like much, doesn't seem to be about anything, and yet I was blown away with its beauty and wisdom. You can get away with only writing a book every twenty-four years when you turn out something as perfect and sparse as this. Like the depression and the bleak Kansas landscape which infuse the book with strength and resolve, there is sparse beauty on every page and I was compelled to underline passages constantly.
