[close] Elijah: Just finished this, and while I liked it very much, I also found myself confused as to what exactly was going on with certain aspects of the book. Very good, but it also left me feeling that maybe I just wasn't smart enough to catch everything, so I'd like to know if anyone else was a bit mystified. Also, I've never read anything else by the author, and am quite curious if the rest of her books are similarly difficult to wrap one's head around.

When I read the first chapter of All the Windwracked Stars by Elizabeth Bear, I thought I would be giving it 5 stars. The language is beyond beautiful. The story is told in the manner of an epic poem, without the verse. This is the stuff of myth and legend and that is reflected in the style. The reader doesn't really connect to the characters, but can one really ever connect to legends?
