The intense and suspenseful ending of Oryx and Crake left me hungering for more, and starting The Year of the Flood did nothing to satiate that need. The story did not begin with the presumed main character, Jimmy the Snowman, from the first novel, but rather began with two peripheral characters telling their stoies.
