This is about as close as you can get to a four-star rating without actually getting there. I loved how the narrative chugged along so efficiently. Lock In was a novel of clever ideas and snappy, if formulaic, dialogue, lots and lots of explanatory dialogue. The climax of the book happens in a revelation of gobbledygook exposition that frankly lost me as to the motivations of the main antagonist, but otherwise the world-building and technical execution of all these clever ideas was quite impress ...more

5/5 stars for the narration by Wil Wheaton & for the excellent bonus novella "Unlocked" included in the audible package.
3/5 stars for the main story. While the premise is great and the world building is fun, the dialogue-heavy plot relies too much on long expository passages. ...more
