I'm a little mad that it turns out Hyperion is basically a unadvertised prequel / amalgamation of character backstories and that I have to read another book (or three?) to get to the main storyline I thought was going to be resolved in this book.
But, I felt really engrossed in this book whenever I picked it up and it was all so inventive and vivid. Especially liked how time debt from FTL space travel was explored ( Rip Van Winkle a la spaceship) and farcasting (basically a magic portal with the ...more

Started out strong, but it definitely seemed rushed towards the end. I didn't find the world building particularly believable, 20th-century culture is way too dominant in this distant future. Still, some memorable parts and an overall interesting plot.
